Mar 11, 2008 - How can u critique that, it's fundamentaly perfect, flat or not, to play the courses and conditions aswell as tee length and shitty burmuda grass on the odd occasion, all these things come into play while creating and changing your golf swing, Hear Tiger say it himself, he didn't like the way his golf swing looked so he worked on it, now if u can swing with only your shoulders, a slight wrist cock at the beginning and top of swing, front hip only moves because of the shoulders...

kyleschrader Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - ...and a robot like finish, than i'll say critique that shit, i'm almost there, the swings i have posted on my own profile are shit now compared to what it is because of one person, Thank you Tiger!

wardycto Says:

Mar 16, 2008 - its where your hands are at impact that you need to worry about, type in players like andres romero who is increadibly flat at set up, but is correct at impact

Mar 19, 2008 - Koberocksaa. It is just important that your hand return to where you had them at adress. But if you want the look of those other players you are seeing a way to have your arms hang lower is: without a club get into the athletic setup of a golfswing and just let your arms hang freely gravity. This is idealy where your hands should be at adress.

koberocksaa Says:

Mar 20, 2008 - i see.. thx to both of u :D

azamatiz Says:

Mar 23, 2008 - yes, you should have your hands level with your knees. If you have at any good player, they have enough knee flex and they seem to sit back, as if on the toilet, so to speak. However, from that position, they have a straight back, at an angle which allows them to drop their hands infront of their torso, in line with their knees.

Apr 3, 2008 - anyone know the name of the song in the background?

emncaity Says:

Apr 11, 2008 - "by far best player ever" by what standard? How familiar are you with Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus, et al., and the conditions, equipment, and competition they had?

emncaity Says:

Apr 11, 2008 - Do you have photos or video online? Impossible to comment with any meaning or accuracy until I see it...

phanatic09 Says:

Apr 16, 2008 - Pause at 54 seconds when the club is parallel to the ground. Wow. What a follow through. Looks like he is enjoying a beauty down the pipe.

imsayintho Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - i dont think comparing equipment holds up. mainly because at the time that they played, those golfers all had the best equipment that was available at the time. twenty years from now, golf equipment will be way better than what everybody is currently using. not only that, but the best equipment is made with the worst golfers in mind. the better players can still get it done with average equipment. and to offset these improvements golf courses are altered.

imsayintho Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - and comparing competition among different generations is shaky. especially considering that snead and hogan played at a time where few minorities were treated equally in professional golf, and at one point the pga tried to make all the events 'invitation only' in order to keep it that way.

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - OK, but golf equipment isn't _supposed_ to get endlessly better at the pro level. Give amateurs whatever they want, but pros ought to be held to a different standard. What you're saying is somewhat true but still regrettable. If you made these guys play with forged blades, persimmon or laminate, and the old ball, then you _would_ have a basis for comparison, or at least more now than before. (You'd still have the factors of near-perfect conditioning, the proliferation of golf programs, etc.)

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - Agreed re minorities, but that would be more relevant to someone trying to make the point that competition used to be _worse_, not better. If anybody wants to take the "Big Five" these days (Tiger, Phil, Ernie, Vijay, maybe Retief or somebody) and play the best five from back then (Hogan, Nelson, Snead, Mangrum, Demaret...or Nicklaus, Watson, Trevino, Miller, Floyd, whoever), best-of-ten matches, I'd wager the house and kids on that one. Toss in Charlie Sifford and I'd include your kids.

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - Crap...I mean, you can't list people without leaving out people who ought to be there. I've left out DeVicenzo and Player. And Casper, who won 51 times on tour (with 3 majors) during a time when he had to beat Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, and Trevino, among others. I mean, Gary Player won 9, while doing all that globetrotting, having to beat that list of players. Who else other than Tiger today is close to that? Peter Thomson won 5 British Opens. Who else now is close?

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - By the way, I saw Sifford play in person. Wish I could say the same of Ted Rhodes and Pete Brown.

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - You've probably heard the point made that there are quite a few players among this allegedly "deep" Tour roster who probably couldn't make a living without the modern ball, perimeter weighting, etc. I'd say that's undeniably true. Did you hear about the time a couple of years ago when some major equipment manufacturer (I think it was MacGregor, but I'm not sure) brought out the persimmon and balata to a tour stop?

emncaity Says:

Apr 24, 2008 - Lemme squeeze in another group of five from the late '80s-early '90s: Norman (esp. the Norman of '93-'94), Faldo, Price, Couples, Love III. I might make that at more like 3-2 odds, but still.

imsayintho Says:

Apr 25, 2008 - i think tiger dominating is more a testament to how good he is rather than how competitive his opponents are. before him, there were more great players playing at once than there are today, but i think the field on a whole has improved because almost any of these guys are good enough to challenge for a major tournament without anybody thinking it was a miracle performance on their part or a bad week for tiger.
